As a platform solution, the remote control system is used in different models of the Volkswagen car range and allows users to heat, cool and ventilate the vehicle interior remotely. This is done by controlling an auxiliary heater installed in the vehicle. The main objective was to develop and manufacture a remote control system with intuitive operating comfort and great utility. High ranges, short latency times and energy-efficient control characterise the product. The remote control was given a customer-specific look and feel and is designed for a long-term operating life.
Development and production of Remote Start system - radio remote control solution for pre-air conditioning
The Remote Start Key Fob Kit is a remote engine start radio control solution for the American market. The system enables pre-air conditioning of the vehicle's interior before the start of the journey, over a long range. As an aftermarket product, the Remote Start Key Fob Kit is available through Volkswagen Group of America's own aftermarket dealerships, as well as authorised workshops in Northern America.
With minor modifications, the product can also be installed directly on the assembly line if required and was developed in accordance with applicable functional safety requirements. In addition to safety, the focus was equally on utility: thanks to the use of digades distance boost technology (ddb) in the integrated radio module, the system achieves highest ranges in the segment of remote engine start systems.
